Eighty-five employees of the NTA recently completed their biometrics registration for the national ID as part of the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys project.
Representatives of the Philippine Statistics Authority acquired biometric information such as fingerprint, facial and iris scans. The national ID can be used as proof of identification in any transaction involving national government agencies, local government units, government financial institutions, and private sector entities etc.
Signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2018, the PhilSys Act aims to simplify the government’s multiple identification system in order to improve the efficiency, transparency and targeted delivery of public and social services.
