Go Negosyo, a non-stock and non-profit organization, presented its Kapatid Angat Lahat (KALAP) program for the agriculture industry to NTA Administrator and CEO Belinda S. Sanchez on January 26 at the NTA Central Office in Quezon City.

Go Negosyo’s aims to help the country’s micro, small, and medium enterprises in the agriculture sector by integrating them into the value chain of large operations.

Administrator Sanchez said that meeting provided an opportunity to establish a good working relationship with the private partners for the benefit of the tobacco farmers and their communities.

KALAP Senior Adviser and former Department of Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar said that the interaction is to discuss partnership of NTA with Universal Leaf Philippines, Inc. (ULPI) to transform the tobacco industry in the country.

“We are optimistic that NTA will embrace and accept the partnership with ULPI and other stakeholders to attain a real change in the said industry,” Dar added.

During the meeting, ULPI and Gilan Global Ventures Corp. (GGVC) presented innovative agriculture programs that will help the end-users to gain higher yields of production and be successful.

GGVC President and CEO Isidor (Isi) Gilan presented the Drip Irrigation System, which is the most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops and will give a tremendous saving in water.

ULPI President Winston Uy expounded data management of the firm’s Universal Leaf Farm System that will help tobacco farmers to be globally competitive. Uy said that the system is the big brother approach in making, providing, and helping the farmers improve themselves.

Also in the meeting were Go Negosyo Representatives, Abegail C. Famadico, Programs Development Officer; and Thermina Ann Akram, Executive Director; and Ciel De la Cruz of GGVC. Other attendees members of the NTA top management, Giovanni B. Palabay, OIC Deputy Administrator for Operations; Fortuna C. Benosa, Corporate Planning Manager; Rohbert A. Ambros, Regulation Manager; Myrna O. Lozano, Industrial Research Manager; and Milagros C. Tiu, Finance Manager.

Go Negosyo was created with the help of like-minded trustees after the appointment of Joey Concepcion as the Presidential Consultant for Entrepreneurship in 2005. The movement advocates for a positive and enterprising attitude among Filipinos – a mindset that would help them move up in life.
